Best Home Food Processors
Breville BFP800BSXL Sous Chef Food Processor
[THE MOST EXPENSIVE] This is a Breville food processor with 1200-watt power. It measures 10.2 x 8 x 17.8 inches and weighs 23 pounds.
It’s the heavier and the largest food processor in my post. This processor comes with many different accessories. Let me introduce you one by one.
First, I need to say. This processor has an LCD display. Do you see any processor that has an LCD display before?
The LCD display is used to show the count-up and count-down auto timer. In countdown mode, the processor will stop automatically when the time is up.
It has one 16-cup large bowl and one 2.5-cup small bowl. You may ask. How to use to small bowl? It’s very simple. Just put the small bowl into the large bowl. it has no special installation required.
2 bowls give you great flexibility to handle a different amount of food. The small bowl is the perfect size to make a small amount of ingredients. The large bowl is perfect for a large amount of food.
With the high torque 1200 watt powerful motor, you no need to consider can this processor can handle your food or not. It’s absolutely powerful enough to handle the toughest job easily in the large bowl.
It comes with 5 multi-function discs and 3 blades. Maybe you will ask. It has so many blades and discs. How can I store it? Don’t worry. It comes with a nice storage box. You can place everything neatly inside the box and put the whole box in your cabinet.
You can slice and shred the food to your desired result easily. Especially the slicing disc, you can adjust the thickness of your slices from 0.3mm up to 8.0mm.
I have never seen this feature in other processors. I wonder how the designer can think about this. It’s really convenient.
In the lid, there is an extra-large feed chute. You can even put a whole potato in one time without pre-cutting.
Here, remember one thing. The pusher need to made contact with the chute, otherwise, the processor will not start. It’s a safety design to prevent your finger from touching the disc.
Inside the large pusher, it has a small pusher. When you take out the small pusher, you can put the long thin food inside to chute. It’s a good design to prevent the food from tipping over during slicing.
Overall, I believe this processor can provide you with great convenience in a different way. It can handle the food perfectly. The result is out of my expectation.
The only drawback I can think of is this processor is too expensive.
Oster Pro 1200 Blender with Glass Jar plus Smoothie Cup & Food Processor Attachment
[TOP PICK] This is an Oster blender and food processor with 1200 powerful watts. It measures 7.2 x 8 x 14.2 inches and weighs 13.45 pounds. The exterior is brushed nickel.
It comes with a 6-cup Boroclass glass jar, BPA-free 5-cup food processing bowl, and 24-ounce lidded smoothie to-go cup.
I personally like a glass jar. I always think the glass is better than plastic no matter the plastic is BPA free or not.
When you use the 6-cup Boroclass glass jar, you can use it to blend anything you want just like the other blenders. The food processing bowl lets you chop the food to smaller. The smoothie cup is used when you want to make the smoothie.
At the top of the control panels, there are 3 preset buttons, green/frozen smoothies, food chop/salsa, and the milkshake. All the preset buttons store the time and required speed so you just need to press the button, then the machine will do all the rest for you.
After the cycle finish, the machine will turn off automatically.
There are 3 speeds from a low, medium, and high in the middle. You can choose any speed you need.
Under the speed buttons, there is a pulse button. It is best to crush ice and chop food.
If you don’t like the preset button, you can also operate the machine by yourself. When you press the on button, the blue indicator light will flash. It tells you the machine is ready to use.
There is no locking or unlocking. Just simple up-and-down when you put the jar into the base.
Overall, this machine is very simple to use no matter you use it as a blender or food processor. All the steps are straight forward.
One thing needs to remember. When you want to use it after wash, the most important thing is to make sure the sealing ring is placed properly. Otherwise, the liquid will leak.

Hamilton Beach (70730) Food Processor & Vegetable Chopper with Bowl Scraper
[EDITOR CHOICE] This is a Hamilton Beach food processor with 450-watt power. It measures 10.2 x 8.4 x 15.5 inches and weighs 6.2 pounds.
There is only one dial control in front of the food processor. It has 2 speeds and a pulse function. No other else.
At the bottom of the base, it has suction feet. It can prevent the food processor from moving around when you are working on it.
When you see the product name, did you ask yourself what is bowl scraper?
Actually, that is the most special feature of this food processor. It’s really useful and convenient for all of you.
If you use the food processor before, you probably experience some mixture that goes to the side of the bowl during the process. No matter how fast you run the machine. It’s still there.
The only way you can do is to stop the unit and remove the lid. Find a spatula to scrape the side of the bowl. Sometimes, you may need to repeat this cycle a few times.
It’s really annoying and definitely slows down your process. Everyone is still hungry and waiting for your food.
With the benefit of the included scraper attachment, you can move it around the side of the bowl during the whole process regardless the unit is on or off. Therefore, you no need to stop and remove the lid again and again.
It comes with a reversible slicing /shredding stainless steel disc.
The large feed chute also provides great convenience for you. Some processors need to cut the food short before putting in the chute.
But, with this processor, you no need to cut the food short. You can put the whole cucumber or a whole block of cheese into the chute.
I like this design. It really saves time.
The last thing, the bowl has a max level indicator. When you process the food, don’t put too much.

As you can see in the images, it’s a very simple food processor. It only has 4 parts, the powerhead, a blade splash guard, a 16-ounce bowl, and the blade.
The bowl has measurement marked on the surface and it is BPA free. When you don’t use the bowl to process the food, the blade splash guard can use as a storage lid. You can use it to store other things.
It also comes with a non-slip bottom to prevent the bowl from moving around the table.
Use this food processor is very simple. You need to assemble all the parts. In the powerhead, there is a big pulse button. Just press it to spin. Release your hand to stop. When the food processor is running, make sure you hold the bowl by the other hand to make it more stable.
It’s perfect to chop garlic, onion, zest, spices, herbs, cheese, bacon crumbles, nut chopping, chocolate, dressings, sauces, and spreads.
I believe this is one of the simplest and cheapest food processors in the market. You will not able to find any difficulty to use this food processor.
It’s suitable for small family use. If your family is big, it’s not suitable for you although the price is very attractive.
Cuisinart DFP-14BKSY Custom 14-Cup Food Processor
This is a Cuisinart food processor with 720 powerful watts. It measures 11 x 14.8 x 7.9 inches and weighs 17.3 pounds. The work bowl is 14 cup Lexan.
It comes with a stainless-steel slicing disc, shredding disc, and a new chopping blade.
In this food processor, there are 2 buttons on the front bottom. The left one is on the button and the right one is the off/pulse button.
What is the difference?
When you press the on the button, you can run it continuously until press the off button. How about the pulse button? The unit will run only when you press this button. When you release your hand, it will stop immediately.
As you can see, there is a wide mouth feed tube in the work bowl. It also has a pusher used to push the food from the tube to the bowl which is easy to use.
The lid has a safety lock. You can twist it to lock and unlock the lid. It’s safe when the unit is running. As you know, the blade is very sharp. If the lid cannot lock, your kids can open the lid easily and may get hurt. Safety is always important.
The work bowl also locks in the same way. It’s not easier to get looser when it is running.
If you want to make the food into the slice, you have to use the stainless-steel slicing disc. Before you can slice the food, you have to put the adapter to the disc first. Just push it down and lock. It’s very simple.
The slicing disc spins really fast inside the food processor. You can slice a lot of food in a short time. During the process, the slicing disc stays level so you can always get a consistent slice of the food.
If you want to shred the food, just do the step to change the disc and install the disc in the food processor.

Be careful, don’t mix up. Otherwise, you will not get the desired result.
The work bowl is very small. It’s only 3-cup. This processor mainly uses to do some little handy food pre-task or do a small batch of food. If you always need to handle a large amount of food, I think you should buy a bigger processor.
When you cover the bowl with the lid, please make sure the lid turns to the right place. Otherwise, the processor cannot work. It’s a kind of safety design.
If you see carefully, you will find 2 small holes in the top of the lid. Normally, people will miss this feature. Actually, it’s a useful and great design for you to add oil during the process.
Remove the bowl is also easy, just twist and turn it.

This is a BLACK+DECKER food chopper with 70-watt power. It measures 6.5 x 4 x 5 inches and weighs 1.25 pounds.

If you don’t place the lid properly, the processor will also not work. Just like how to attach the bowl. Place the lid on the bow and rotate counterclockwise until the lid and the bowl handle line up fully.
Otherwise, you cannot press the pulse control down to chop the food.

How To Choose The Best Home Food Processor
If you just take a look, the food processor may be only different in size or brand.
Actually, is it like that simple?
If you go through the below, you will find there are many different features and accessories than you expected.
Let’s talk about this.
Button
Most of you may think the button is the most essential part of the appliance. But, actually not all the food processor has the button. At least, some will be difficult to see.
Very simple, the more button the more function of the food processor.
Normally, the most basic button is the pulse button. Others are the speeds button.
The details of the button will be talked about in the individual food processor below.
Multifunction
Some food processors can only chop the food. Some can slice/shred the food. Ask carefully before making the decision. Otherwise, you may need to buy a new one.
How Many Disc And Blade
Normally, it only comes with one blade one disc. But, some models will come with more than one disc and more than one blade.
The extra blade will be a dough blade that is used to make the dough. If you like to make pizza or cookie, dough blade can help you so much.
LCD Display
It only appears in a high-end model which is used to show the timer and countdown. If you like the LCD display, you should pay more attention to Breville BFP800BSXL Sous Chef Food Processor.
Timer
It also only appears in the high-end model. When you set the countdown, the food processor will turn off automatically after the time is up.
If you like the timer, pay more attention to Breville BFP800BSXL Sous Chef Food Processor.
Reversible Disc
That means one side is used to slice the food. When you reverse the disc to another side, it can use to shred the food.
Most of the slice/shred disc is designed like that. Maybe the manufacturer wants to save costs.
How Many Bowl
Breville BFP800BSXL Sous Chef Food Processor comes with one large bowl and one small bowl.
When you only need to handle a small amount of food, you can use a small bowl. It provides great flexibility and convenience for you to prepare less food.
Bowl Size
When you buy the food processor, the size of the bowl is one of the most important buying criteria. If you have a big family, you should buy one with a large bowl. Otherwise, just buy a small one.
Motor Power
If you always need to handle a large quantity of food or make the dough, I suggest you should buy the food processor with a powerful motor because it also comes with high torque. It can use to handle the toughest job in your kitchen.
Bowl Scraper
Like Hamilton Beach (70730) Food Processor. It has included a scraper that can use inside the bowl while running.
It can use to remove the food on the side of the bowl. Otherwise, you have to stop the food processor, open the lid, and use the spatula to remove the food.
This design provides great convenience for this.
Expandable Chute
If the chute is expandable, you can put larger and more food every time. you no need to cut the food into small pieces.
It saves a lot of preparation work.
Bowl Material
Some bowl is made of glass. Some bowl is made of BPA free plastic. If you care about the material of the bowl, pay more attention when you buy the food processor.
Oil Dispenser
If the lid has an oil dispenser, you can add liquid or oil while processing the food.
Small Batch Chopping Tool
With this tool, it can hold the food closer to the blades to produce better chopping results.
Flat Cover
Some model comes with 2 lids. One has a chute. The other one is a flat cover. If you no need to slice/shred the food, you should change the flat cover because it is easier to clean.
Big Feed Tube & Small Feed Tube
If the lid of your food processor has a chute, it should come with a large food pusher. Some models will have a small food pusher in the middle of a large food pusher. When you take away the small food pusher, you will find a small feed tube.
It’s useful when you need to slice/shred a small long thin food. With the small feed tube, it can provide a better result because it can prevent the food from tipping over during processing.
Storage Box
If your food processor comes with many accessories like Breville BFP800BSXL Sous Chef Food Processor, it will have a storage box for you to store the blade and the disc together.
Mark On The Bowl
If the bowl has a min line and max line, make sure the food is between those two lines to produce the best result.
Noise
Some model is very noisy. If the situation is possible, I suggest you test it before buying it.
Suction Feet
If the base has suction feet, it will be more stable and will not move around on your counter.
Conclusion
After reading this post, if you are a busy mummy, I think you should start to think about how to use your time more efficiently. At least, in the kitchen.
Every time before cooking, do any jobs that can be prepared by an appliance such as a food processor, hand mixer, blender, etc?
Obviously, with the food processor, most of the handy tasks can be done quickly. The time to prepare the food will be shorter than before. Daddy can become an excellent kitchen assistant too.
At that time, busy mummy will have more time to play with their kids.
If you have a big family, I believe the food processor can help you so much. Try to imagine that, when you have, how efficient you will be?
I hope my post can help everyone to choose the best food processor and cook the best food for your family.
If you have any questions or opinion, please leave them below, I’d love to hear that.
Let’s discuss what the food processor can do for you together.

This is a great review! Very thorough and helpful information for those of us looking into buying a new food processor. I have really small one right now that I hardly use because it’s so small. For one recipe that I need to use it for, I have to split the ingredients into two amounts because it won’t all fit at once. Not very efficient for a busy mom! So, I will keep these ones you’ve listed in mind when making my decision. Thanks so much!

I love your post, it’s full of information explaining about each Food Processor. That helps so much in deciding which one to choose, I like the Oster Pro 1200 Blender with Glass Jar plus Smoothie Cup & Food Processor Attachment and the Oster 2-Speed 10-Cup Food Processor. Leaning toward the Pro 1200. Thank you for sharing such a great review!
Blessings,

I do very little cooking, just my wife and I , so a small model would suit us fine like the Ninja Food Chopper Express Chop with 200-Watt, 16-Ounce Bowl for Mincing, Chopping, Grinding, Blending
I was so pleased to see it only cost twenty bucks! wow such a little powerhouse that does all those things and so inexpensive.
Do you know if it is build very sturdy? I realize when you buy a cheaper priced item, sometimes it will not last long.
Is Ninja considered a reliable brand IYO?
CT · December 16, 2019 at 12:43 pm
Hello Phil, thanks for your comment. I think Ninja Food Chopper Express Chop is very sturdy although it’s a BUDGET PRODUCT. According to my research, it’s one of the popular food processors on the market. The comments and the ratings are quite good too. Otherwise, it won’t become a popular food processor. I believe Ninja is a reliable brand because it publishes so many different kitchen appliances. All the feedbacks and ratings are not bad.

Well there you have it!! There are way to many options and I was looking online for the perfect food processor and looks like I am going to go your favorite. It has so many nice options and isn’t the most expensive out of them all. I do have one question and that is the list you had at the bottom of them, the accessories I guess, are there any in particular that you really like or really use a lot? I like to make smoothies sometimes and that extra cup looks like it would come in handy for that and many more options. Thank you for all the great info.

Hi Douglas, nice to meet you. I’m still using the old food processor at home. Actually, I want to try a new model for a long time but I don’t want to buy one more machine that take up my kitchen space. It already has so many machines.

Hello CT, thank you for sharing these 15 best home food processors. Processing food items and ingredients can sometimes be a pain and usually tedious especially when it involves slicing ingredients into very tiny pieces; now this is the time for freedom and speed as a result of these recommended food processors.
All these processors listed here are really nice and I am sure that they’d deliver but my favourite is your favourite; Oster Pro 1200 Blender. Obviously, my reasons are your reasons too. The smoothie cup is really cool.
CT · December 16, 2019 at 1:03 pm
Hi MrBiizy, Oster Pro 1200 Blender is really nice because it comes with a smoothie to-go cup. If you like a smoothie, you don’t have to buy the extra smoothie blenders. You can do that in just one machine that saves money and space in your kitchen.
I hope you can enjoy it very soon. If you have any questions in the future, please feel free to ask me at any time.

My wife has been asking for a food processor, so thank you for putting this list together so that I can compare them. I am not too familiar with this, so which out of the top choice and editors choice would you pick? We have a rather large family, with 6 of us plus typically an additional kid or two over for dinner, so we probably need something that would feed a large group. Seems like the Hamilton Beach 12-cup one would work the best but you would know better than me! Thank you again, this is so helpful!

Hi Travis, nice to meet you. If you have a large family, Hamilton Beach 70725A 12-Cup Stack & Snap Food Processor is a good choice because it comes with a large 12-cup bowl so you can prepare a lot of food at one time. It also comes with 2 stainless steel blades, s-blade and reversible slice/shred disc, you can use to chop, slice, shred, mix, and puree. As a food processor, this model is quite multifunctional so you can make different food easily and faster for your family.
I hope you can cook faster and more time playing with your children. If you have any questions in the future, please feel free to ask me at any time.

This is an excellent gathering of food processor appliances and any one of these would be a great addition to anyone’s kitchen. They are not only great for speeding up the prep process but I think they are a great way to reduce waste in the kitchen as well.
I don’t have any questions about them but My wife and I have been using these appliances for many years. We currently have a Black and Decker food processor/food chopper and a couple of smaller ones for doing things like grinding up seeds and nuts as well as smaller quantities of veggies.
We also have a juicer which comes in handy as well. The pulp from that can be used in other recipes as well. (Almost no waste)
I have to say these gizmos really do cut down the prep time for meals. Now… if they could only find a way to make them self cleaning 🙂 it would be the best of both worlds.
They really aren’t that difficult to clean up. Mostly, just a rinse will do depending on how much slicing and dicing one does.
These appliances are very functional and versatile.

Hello, the Breville BFP800BSXL Sous Chef Food Processor got my attention. I looked up the price online since I needed something like it in my house and I was shocked.. I think I am going to settle for another one. Maybe the Hamilton Beach 70725A 12-Cup Stack & Snap Food Processor and Vegetable Chopper. Thanks a lot for this review. It has helped me
